India is closed for leisure travel from all countries, while domestic restrictions change regularly and vary between regions.

Can I travel to India?

  • India has resumed flights with few countries, for all purposes except tourism. Registration is required in advance.
  • Travel from other countries may be possible for an essential reason, however it is required to obtain a visa in advance.

Do I need to go into quarantine when arriving to India?

  • Anyone arriving to India will be required to go into 7 days quarantine at an institution at their own cost, followed by 7 days of self-quarantine.
  • This requirement can be removed if presenting a negative RT-PCR test, no older than 72 hours.
  • Asymptomatic travelers are exempt.
  • All arrivals from Brazil, Europe, U.K., and South Africa must quarantine for 7 days, regardless of testing.
  • All arrivals from the UK must quarantine for 10 days, regardless of testing.

Are COVID-19 tests required to travel to India?

  • All arrivals must upload a negative RT-PCR test, no older than 72 hours, in India's Air Suvidha portal.
  • Arrivals from Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Europe, Mauritius, New Zealand, South Africa, the U.K., and Zimbabwe must undergo a second test upon arrival.
  • Arrivals from Brazil, Europe, U.K., and South Africa will undergo a second test upon arrival and another one on their 8th day.
  • Arrivals from Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Lebanon, Nepal, Serbia the UK, and Ukraine do not need to undergo a second test upon arrival.
  • All arrivals are required to fill in a health declaration 72 hours before arriving.
  • Some regions within India require negative test results from domestic travelers as well.

Is public transportation open in India?

  • Public transportation in India is operating in a limited capacity and reduced schedules.
  • In high-risk areas, public transportation is suspended.

Are the restaurants and bars open in India?

  • Restaurants and cafes in India are open, under social distancing requirements.
  • In high-risk areas, restaurants and cafes are closed.
  • Bars remain closed nationwide.

Are businesses and attractions open in India?

  • Non-essential businesses and attractions in India are re-opening, with health and social distancing measurements in place. Restrictions vary between areas.
  • In high-risk areas, non-essential businesses and attractions are closed, and nightly curfews are in place.

Do I need to wear a face mask in India?

Wearing face masks is required in all public places.
